"This is the best trip ever!" - Lauren's seven-year-old son
From the moment we arrived, to the thousands of sparkly Christmas lights on The Lodge, to the day we left, our stay at Sunriver Resort was nothing short of amazing. There were so many activities to enjoy as a family, not only for adults but for our kids as well. Our family of six got to make countless memories that we will all remember for a lifetime during our stay. Our rooms at Sunriver Resort were cozy and welcoming. The kids loved making a gingerbread house by the fireplace while watching a Christmas movie. The gingerbread kits sold at the resort had everything they needed, from candy to frosting, to designing their house. What a fun tradition to take part in each year.
During our stay the weather in Central Oregon was beautiful. With the weather being so nice, this meant we got to swim not only inside at 'The Cove' aquatic center but also outside! It was so breathtaking watching our boys cannonball into the pool with the snowy mountains in the background. All we had to do was walk from our room, and we got to spend hours enjoying the water slide, lazy river and indoor and outdoor hot tubs. We were also thankful to have lunch at 'The Spotted Frog,' which is conveniently located in the aquatic center; providing meals and specialty drinks. When you're traveling with kids, it is conveniences like this, that make the trip so much more enjoyable and less stressful. "The dark water slide was really cool, and fast," my oldest son said. 'The Cove' was the favorite activity for our kids, and watching their pure joy was priceless as parents.
During the day and night, there are many fun activities to take part in at Sunriver Resort. Our kids ran all over the property, searching for bears in the Takoda Bear Scavenger Hunt. They were very excited about the prize they earned from the gift shop when they found them all. We also got to go experience the Sunriver Nature Center, which is located just a short drive from the Resort. We got to learn about, and see many animals native to Central Oregon. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of rescued animals living and thriving at the center.
After busy days of fun, it was so nice to have meals at the 'Lodge Kitchen,' located inside the Main Lodge. The food was delicious, and the restaurant itself was decorated beautifully. The food options and atmosphere made for a great experience for our whole family. Our family enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner at the 'Lodge Kitchen,' and both meals were delicious. After our dinner, we just walked out the back of the building and got to enjoy the 'Holiday Light Show.' This show happens three times each evening and takes place on the back patio of the lodge. Snuggled up next to a fire, we watched Christmas lights dance to the music that was played. The kids even ran and danced around the giant Christmas tree.
These memories will forever be ones we cherish. What a gift our stay at Sunriver Resort was.
