LODGE VILLAGE
A home-away-from-home located between The Lodge at Sunriver Resort and the Cove Aquatic Center. Each room is accessed straight from the outdoors and features a cozy fireplace, outdoor space and spectacular views.
The Pacific Amateur Golf Classic is a Central Oregon institution, highlighting the annual calendars of golfers from all over the world for more than 20 years now. Sunriver Resort has been the host site in every one in of its first 20 editions, and will once again be a proud host this year when the tournament returns to Central Oregon from Sept. 23-28.
In its 21st year, though, things are changing a bit for the West Coast’s favorite net handicap tournament. For the first time, it will be held exclusively at Sunriver
Resort. No more traveling all over Central Oregon to play in the Pac Am or to take part in its many fun events.
Best of all, every golfer in this year’s 54-hole Pac Am is guaranteed to play at least one round at all three of Sunriver Resort’s three championship golf courses — including Crosswater.
As anyone who has played in the Pac Am before can attest, Crosswater was reserved for the championship round, limiting it to those who played the best golf in their respective divisions over the opening rounds. One bad hole could sink your chances. Now no matter how many duffs, whiffs, shanks, and four-putts a Pac Am golfer hits, he or she gets a chance to play Sunriver’s crown jewel, which ranks in the Top 100 Courses You Can Play by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.
Play well enough, and you get to play Crosswater again in the championship round. Two rounds at Crosswater, a round at Meadows, and another round at Woodlands? Not a bad week in Central Oregon.
“Sunriver Resort is really proud of its history with the Pac Am, and just as proud that we can continue the tradition here in Central Oregon,” said Josh Willis, director of golf at Sunriver Resort. “By guaranteeing a round at Crosswater, as well as our two other championship golf courses, we ensure that every golf has a world-class golf experience.”
This year registration is limited to 300 golfers, which should provide a more intimate, friendly, and fun experience. But otherwise, the Pac Am will keep with the tournament’s long-standing traditions.
The 54-hole, net, stroke-play tournament is split into divisions, including:
Most importantly, the Pac Am will still foster the camaraderie among its participants that has made it such a long-standing, beloved golf tournament.
“Over the years, it has not been unusual for golfers to forge lifelong friendships while playing in the Pac Am,” Willis said. “That togetherness is easily one of the hallmarks of the tournament and an aspect that has made it a special event for more than two decades. We have been careful to preserve it even with the tournament’s new structure.”
Tournament-only entries and entries that include Sunriver Resort lodging are available, and each package includes a Pac Am gift bag, Sunriver discounts, admission to the Sunday Players Welcome Reception and Dinner, Demo Day, and so much more.
